Saving a baby Elephant in Kenya I trained in the use of aromatic extracts for animals with the Ingraham Institute, and the Institute work continues to develop into new areas. In October 2007 Caroline Ingraham was invited to travel to Kenya to help the Sheldrick Trust in saving a baby elephant called Sinya. Sinya's story appears on the Sheldrick Trust's website and can be accessed via www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/updates/updates.asp?ID=131. The work in saving this baby elephant has triggered further interest from around the world in zoopharmacognosy, with Caroline being invited to speak at international conferences and help with a number of zoo and wildlife related charities. It is hoped that the Institute will be able include this type of work in future student training. This work is truly remarkable and is underpinned by the Ingraham Method of Self Selection where animals select their own remedies to maintain physical or emotional health. The horrific elephant injuries healed quickly and effectively using plant and aromatic extracts. Caroline will be launching a new website shortly to update on the institute work. If you would like to train in the safe use of aromatic plant extracts to help your own animals please do contact the Ingraham Institute - this is a life changing experience for you and your animals! www.ingraham.co.uk. If you enjoy seeing little Sinya's story please consider sponsoring an elephant at the Sheldrick Trust - makes an excellent present when you don't know what to buy for the man/woman who has everything! If your horse suffers from this condition, please do call me to look at using a Sweet Itch gel for your horse. April 2007 Thank you all !!! A big thank you to all of you who donated your old horse rugs to the Willow Tree Horse Sanctuary in January / February. A total of 42 rugs were gratefully received and helped the animals who desperately needed them stay warm after the field shelters had been destroyed by the freak tornado that ripped through the area. They are desperate for help to continue their work and any donations, help rehoming, hands on help at the sanctuary or fundraising ideas would be gratefully received. For more information do contact Willow Tree Sanctuary on 01371 810490. March 2007 Trip to Nerja Donkey Sanctuary, Spain - November 2006 In November 2006 students and graduates of the Ingraham Institute of Aromatic Extracts for Animals visited a donkey sanctuary in Nerja, Spain to help the donkeys and other animals in their care. This is a very poor sancturay that is primarily for Donkeys that have been mistreated or abandoned, or whose owners have died - or in one case whose owner has been arrested for drug running over the mountains! However, there are also dogs, cats, a goat and even a rabbit - nothing genuine is turned away. During the summer there is a constant supply of visitors to the sanctuary who make a donation for the visit or bring food to help out. However, during the winter months when the visitors have gone home, they rely entirely on local support from residents to help pay for food and any vets bills that arise. They really do depend on donations and volunteers and are in desperate need of help. You may have seen the sanctuary featured on the Channel 4 programme "Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares" in November 2006. The aromatics group worked on the donkeys who all have various ailments and also a mule that could not open his mouth to eat due to a prolonged infection that had not been addressed before coming to the sanctuary. He had become dangerously thin. The mule primarily self-selected Bitter Almond and this has been shown to be effective on three strains of Escherichia coli bacteria. He started to eat hay and apples before we left and has continued to make good progress and put on weight. The dogs also saw some behavioural changes during and after our visit selecting oils for trauma and abuse. They were calmer and more relaxed when we left and some have even found new homes. Pictured below are some of the animals we worked on. If you would like further infomation on the oils they selcted please do contact me. For more details of the sanctuary, to adopt a donkey to help raise funds, to make a donation to help with their work, or to visit them when you are next in the Nerja, Malaga area, please click on www.nerjadonkeysanctuary.org

URGENT HELP NEEDED!! Willow Horse Sanctuary - Near Finchingfield Essex. Following the mini tornado that passed through North Essex/Suffolk borders over New Year the sanctuary suffered a lot of damage to field shelters. This means that some of the horses that would normally have shelter in the fields do not have this until they can be repaired. With winter weather coming this is a real concern. If you have any unwanted outdoor or indoor horse rugs that they could have please let me know and I will be happy to collect and deliver to them if local. They can be in any condition. This will mean that at least while shelters are being repaired that some horses can be warm whilst out in the fields instead of being cooped up in stables. ========= MUD FEVER HELP
This time of year many people find that their horses suffer from Mud Fever. Often many different preparations have been tried without success driving the poor horse and owner to despair as in extreme cases this can cause severe lameness. I have had success using a combination of essential oils in a Calendula and Beeswax base cream blended to suit the individual animal's needs. If you or anyone you know is suffering with this and cannot overcome it conventionally, then do contact me and I will be happy to help.
