"Through knowledge comes understanding"

Information about the animal is requested to gain a full picture of all aspects of behaviour, routine, physical and emotional health. This will include,

  • A detailed history of the animal, the current routine, exercise regime, feed, current and recent medication, current environment, and the issue that is of concern to the owner.
  • A detailed visual assessment
  • A physical hands on assessment.

Zoopharmacognosy - the properties of different plant extracts will be discussed and aromatic plant extracts that have properties that may help the issue are offered using the Ingraham Method of Self-Selection. The animal's specific response to an extract is assessed to see whether they are showing that it is needed by them or not. Appropriate extracts will be left with the owner as well as detailed safety notes.

Acupressure - using a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective (TCM), different meridians are assessed and a full acupressure session is completed showing the key acupoints that will benefit the particular issues identified.

After the session an easy to follow plan is left for the owner to continue with if required, to enable them to actively participate in the continued well being of the animal.  Ongoing support, advice, and information is included and further visits to check progess are offered if required.

Working to the animal's own pace, a session can last around 2 hours.  The animal owner will need to be present during the whole session as it is vital to gather as much information as possible to gain a truly holistic view. By the owner observing the process and identifying any immediate changes, they can also learn how to continue the therapy on their own if required. Ideally the session will take place somewhere quiet and for horses somewhere dry or out of the elements is also beneficial.

Veterinary confirmation is required before a session with an animal is undertaken to ensure compliance with the Vets Act and to check for any contraindications.

To arrange a one-to-one session, a group demonstration or a workshop tailored for your yard please contact tricia@purelyanimals.co.uk or call Tricia on 07880 715157.

If you have any concerns for the health of your animal, always contact your Vet. Veterinary permission or a veterinary referral must always be obtained before you seek any complementary therapy for your animal. This is not an alternative to Veterinary care.
